spring clothes

i love this lacey-diddey
and chunky stripes.
ahh, bring on the sunshine!
both from madewell.

oil painting

i'm so excited to show you the oil painting my talented cousin, abbey, painted for me.
she is going to be starting her own business doing paintings soon. i'll update you with her contact info when that time comes. can't wait to see her success and more importantly...her sweet baby girl who's arrival is due in just a few weeks!

remember this over-the-fireplace arrangement?
derrick hooked me up with these awesome sconces for my birthday in 2009.

for reals. its even better in person...is that possible? yes.

the remaining sconces have been moved over to the dining area.
they dress up the area a little; it's a nice change
can't wait to put my next order in with abbey!

happy wednesday, my friends!

weekend recap

first of all...d & i went to see the hunger games on friday. let. me. just. tell. you...it was perfect.
truly wouldn't change a single frickin thing.
when does the next movie come out?!?!

my pretty momma had a birthday this weekend. so a birthday bash was in order. we have cousins and great friends (like family) that live nearby so sunday afternoon we had a little bbq lunch.
it was so good.
my mom loooves to cook, i mean loooooves to cook. so she cooked the bbq the night before along with her signature darn good chocolate cake. if you've ever been to the klem's house, i'm sure a d.g.c.c. was made.
while they were at church i was able to schnazz the condo up and have it party-ready in no time.

happy tuesday!

lots of fun pics to come tomorrow.
next up, a new oil painting that you all will die for!

blog tag!

i was doing my daily perusing of blogs and noticed this awesome blog tagging going on over at my sweet friend steph's blog. this is a fun little question & answer game.
i think i'm the 3rd or so in the blog tagging game.
check out stephs answers here
can't wait to get started!

1. if you were an animal, which would you be?
i would hands down be a sweet little pup! all the love and attention, cuddling and yummy treats...who wouldn't want that?!
2. if you could have dinner with anyone who would it be? {i know this one is cliche, but i always love to hear people's answers to this!}
please don't judge me.
jennifer aniston. i love her.
ohhh what about a dinner with jennifer aniston AND justin timberlake.
3. what would you say is the flaw in yourself you would most like to correct?
hmmm...where do i begin?! i think i would have to say...my snarky 'tude.
i tend to be too sassy and end up saying things that i regret. i hate hurting peoples feelings.
4.  where do you see yourself this time next year?
hopefully prego!
if not that, i'd love to be back in full cycling shape
5. fill in the blank: when i have an afternoon totally to myself, i like to ______
at the beach sipping a lovely cocktail

6. are you a chocolate or vanilla kind of person?
vanilla all the way!
although, those dove dark chocolates are very good every so often.
7. would you {or have you} ever traveled solo?  would you? why/why not?
i have done so just within the US though. it was a fun trip and was able to all sorts of random things.
highly recommend a short getaway by yourself at least once. i wouldn't want to go much longer than 2 days or so....i'd want my hubby there after that!

8.  tell me about the best date you ever had.
the best date i ever had was so simple. this was when derrick and i first got together.
we had dinner and drinks at this italian restaurant. we sat outside and ordered an ungodly amount of appetizers, food and wine.
then we headed to the beach to watch the 4th of july fireworks.
afterwards we stopped at wawa for coffee and donuts.
9. which song has been running through your head lately?
we are young....
i hear it alllll the time on the radio.
i'm ready for a new song.
10. did you make any resolutions this year?  how are they going?
i did!
my goals for this year are to get back into running/cycling shape.
so far, so good!
just finished the shamrock half marathon
now, on to the cycling...which will take more dedication & motivation.
wish me luck!

baby shower invitation

my sweet cousin, abbey, is expecting her first baby soon.
i can't go into too many details since the shower is later this month
.......but i can share what i did for the invitation
the shower is going to have a vintage theme. i laaaaaabored over what to do for the invite.
something unique? handmade? ugh....what. to. do.....
time was running out so i had to think quickly. i found some textured cardstock from michaels.
using some fabric i found in philadelphia and my favorite craft item...twine!
i combined it all to make this:

{oh, and the blobs are just to x out the personal info....gotta keep some stuff private, eh?}

in other news.....just a few days away from the shamrock half marathon.
my first race since 2008....i can't believe its been that long. i'm so anxious to race again.
bonus for my favorite friends coming to race and cheer!
{oh and praising God that my bronchitis is GONE. wowza, that was a doozy.}

another completed project

lots of movin' and shakin' around here lately
remember my projects coming up ?
here is the new home for the entertainment center turned side table.
on the left side is open glass showcasing dishes from my grandmother.
on the right, a solid door hiding cd's & dvd's
also notice the fabric on the right being put to good use
another two projects completed!

before & after

let's take a walk down memory lane...
we have this lovely photo wall with a beautiful semolina paint by benjamin moore.
{it was a great four years, semolina...}
ps. be warned...lots of pics today!

it was sunday afternoon and we just got back from church
perfect time for a little nap
while flipping through the channels & dozing here and there....i stumbled upon my favorite channel.
dun dun duuuuun.
this got my crazy little mind rolling. picked up my trim paint and got to work.
this turned into.....well, i guess i don't have to be too careful since i want to paint this wall......
thus began the project.
stopped by and got some kilz and went to work!

please help me welcome, blue heather
since beyonce and jay-z recently had a baby named blue....
this color just seemed appropriate, don't you agree??
i mean....blue is so 2012.

oh...and take notice....those brass doorknobs have turned into black sassy doorknobs
since we updated the door knobs here, they have held up great.
no complaints at all on the spray paint method.

below is the view from the kitchen looking towards the guest bedroom

{and just because it's been a while since lil' man made an appearance....
oh, and  sneak peak into tomorrow's post!}
